Holy Smokes! It’s a Batman Inspired Super Hero Birthday Party

Many of you probably remember Maureen’s Super hero party for her son Pierson. She created the most amazing and original artwork and decor for that party! Superhero has remained one of our most popular designs. So, when mom Rebecca Chelmick submitted her son Declan’s 4th birthday party to us, we were thrilled to see what she came up with. She had some incredible details to make this party very special!

Rebecca’s own words describe the day…we love the Batman stuff she pulled together!

“Leading up to his birthday our son developed a huge love of Batman, referring to his dad as Robin and me as Batgirl. As he was turning four this year, we really wanted to include him in his birthday party planning and decided to let him pick his theme, of course it was Batman.

We are fans of the cartoon version of Batman, so we decided to go with a Blue/Grey theme for his party. When planning any party, I always turn to Anders Ruff, their work is such a great inspiration and their party packages are so unique and fun!

We ordered a custom cape and mask from Kid Capers for Declan to wear, and masks for all the kids. I made custom T-shirts with the kids name on them within the Batman logo, all the kids loved them. I even made one for myself “Batmom” which my son loved, and each Grandma got a shirt with a picture of Declan in his Batman outfit.

We once again had Annie of Cake Couture make Declan’s cake. I took him to meet with Annie and he told her what he would like. She did an amazing job! His cake had the skyscraper on the bottom and even had a full batman cape on the back We topped it with one of Declan’s favorite Batman figurines. Annie also made cupcakes that we wrapped in the cupcake liners from the batman collection and custom cookies that said Pow, Bam, and had the batman logo.

For the backdrop we wanted to create the popular skyline from the Batman comics. We made this with plain black cardstock and used my circuit machine to make the windows.  It really made the cake stand out, which was great as it was Declan’s favorite part. We covered Styrofoam boxes I purchased at a cake supply store in grey cardstock and the batman logo to hold our candy cones which we filled with blue, yellow and black gummies.

Because Declan’s birthday is in the summer, it is always super hot, and this day was no exception. To cool the kids off we found the perfect little pool for the party from PotteryBarn for Kids. A Batmobile Pool! This by far was one of the highlights of the party and all the kids had a blast splashing around in it.

One thing we always make certain for our parties is to ensure that we have a professional photographer to capture the day. I always find that you end up so busy hosting your guests that you miss capturing the special moments of the party. We had our dear friend Jennifer of JNZ Photography capture Declan’s day and she did just that! It was such a relief to have her there snapping away.

All in all it was a fantastic party and Declan had a wonderful time. Declan is already giving me suggestions for his next party!”
