If there was ever any doubt, Virginia is definitely for DIY lovers! How can I make this claim? For one, because it’s true! Add the recent grand opening of AR Workshop Mechanicsville as solid evidence. To keep up with the demand for hands-on DIY décor crafting, AR Workshop Mechanicsville opened as the 10th workshop in Virginia. This new location can be found at 7362 Bell Creek Road, in Mechanicsville, VA. There you will find the much sought after DIY experience that has already spread like wild fire around the state and country. Guests are in love with the endless crafting opportunities which include, but are not limited to a variety of wood projects (plank and wood framed signs, centerpieces, porch signs, picture frames, lazy susans, trays, etc…), canvas crafts (wall hangings, pillow covers, tote bags and more), and even the popular chunky knit blankets. In recent weeks, DIY to-go kits have become insanely popular. These kits offer virtual and/or written instruction so projects can be made at home.
If you’re wondering who the faces are behind this new DIY dream-come true, you are in for a treat! Catt and John Pulli are the new owners of AR Workshop Mechanicsville! Their ownership story is a fun one! It began several months ago when Catt’s 30th birthday was looming over her asking her what kind of creative mark she was going to leave on this world. Catt was an art major at Liberty University and has been a professional photographer since she was 19. Three years ago, she switched to only shooting food. (If you need any Richmond restaurant recommendations, she’s your girl!) Catt really enjoyed her job, the continuous influx of delicious food, and the connections she made, but she felt like she definitely needed to do something more to give back to her community. When she looked into owning her own workshop, a feeling of “this is exactly what I’m meant to do,” came over her, and she hasn’t looked back. John, the ever patient husband to her high energy, jumped right in and handles the business side of things.
So why Mechanicsville? According to Catt and John, Mechanicsville needed some love. People were always stating that, “we never get anything out here.” There is nowhere else they even considered. Their dream is to partner with as many local vendors, fundraisers, and crafters as they can so that they can continue to spread the wealth and help out their local community.
Catt says, “I really want this to be a place that people love to be. I want you to come in and feel like you are among your people. It’s going to be cozy, it’s going to be warm, and most of all, it’s going to be FUN!”
