This may be the most ultimate DIY college dorm makeover I’ve ever seen, and it’s brought to you by our very own Adria Ruff. Eighteen years in the making, Adria has been dreaming about her daughter’s freshman college dorm room since the day she was born. Her daughter, Brynne, loves interior design (almost as much as her designer mother). This dynamic and creative mother-daughter duo have spent much of the past year DIYing with projects from AR Workshop. They curated interesting accents for Brynne’s freshman dorm room at The University of Mississippi (“Ole Miss”). Just wait until you see all of the trendy details and the final transformation! Adria even shares tips on where to find some of the purchased décor items! You won’t want to miss this DIY college dorm makeover!
To truly understand how awesome the “after” is, you have to understand fully the “before”. Here it is! Adria and Brynne had to work with yellow cement walls and old dorm furniture!
Let’s start with the bed area. The white bedding is from Target. The pink pillows and pink lamps are from Home Goods. The headboards are from Amazon. The custom wood signs are from AR Workshop and are mixed in with several prints from Hobby Lobby. They also sourced the pink mugs and pink crockpot from Hobby Lobby. The pink and grey Pom garland was from the Christmas section last year at Hobby Lobby as well. The pink Keurig was a must to match the decor. The pink refrigerator- you guessed it… a little DIY project painted with Krylon Spray Paint. Mini pink fans were purchased from Walmart. Cheetah bed trays were created in custom colors from AR Workshop.
The pink velvet ottoman with gold trim and gold accented cowhide rug found on Amazon.
Here’s an up close photo of the kitchenette area.
Here’s a side view of the second bed.
This view is the wall side of the room that you see when you first come in. The curtains are from Amazon. The curtain rod is from The Home Depot. Command Strips were used to hang all wall decor and curtain rods!
How cute are the matching salt and pepper shakers on the custom bed tray made at AR Workshop? (The pink salt shaker is from Walmart!)
To spruce up the old built-in desk space, décor items were sourced from Home Goods, Hobby Lobby and Anthropologie and personal items were intermixed.
A few more custom items finished off this incredible transformation. (Adria added that “Call your mom” piece as a subtle reminder.)
What do you think? Would you like to live in this incredibly styled freshman dorm room? What detail of this DIY college dorm makeover did you love the most?
