Ruff Draft: Gobble Gobble Banner

So… I can’t believe it’s November already!  Time to start thinking/planning for Thanksgiving.  My mom is already frantically calling me to help her plan her Thanksgiving dinner menu…. (as if she is going to buy groceries now – ha!)

From this year’s Thanksgiving Gobble Gobble Printable Collection, we designed a very simple banner, and I wanted to show you how to create your own!

Supplies needed:

1. Gobble Gobble Printable Collection

2. Photopaper or cardstock

3. Scissors/trimmer

4. Permanent adhesive (tape, glue, glue dots)

5. Ribbon – approx .75 – 1.25″ in width

6. Fabric – we used burlap

First item of business:  print your banner and trim.  (We use 8.5″ x 11″ photo paper – it looks so professional!)

Next you need to cut a piece of fabric for each letter.  I allowed approx. 3/4 – 1″ extra to be exposed on both sides and at the bottom of the letter.

(top of letter/printable banner will line up with top of fabric rectangle)

I left the edges raw on the burlap… and let them fray a little.  It is almost impossible to cut burlap and have it be perfect… we’ll just call this, character.

Glue each printable banner to the fabric.  I used hot glue, but any permanent adhesive will do.

Once each letter is glued to fabric, then we took a very long piece of ribbon and glued along top edge (I used glue dots for this)

That’s it – trim any frayed edged you don’t like, and hang!

One last simple thing you can do with the extra fabric :

Make a simple backing for the printable placemats!

Cut pieces of fabric that are approx. 3/4 – 1″ bigger all the way around the printable placemats.

We didn’t even secure them, so they could be reused… but double-side tape could do the trick if needed.

Lay printed placemats on top.  – just makes your placemat pop a little!placemat
