Hi everyone!\u00a0 I’m so excited to finally release photos from Jeffrey’s recent 7th birthday Ninja Party<\/strong> that I planned in June.<\/p>\n

My son loves Lego Ninjago (as do most 7 year olds!) so we went with a Ninja style party and created an Asian environment by pulling in traditional elements such as lanterns<\/a><\/strong>, black and white Chinese screens<\/strong><\/a>, and the colors red, white and black of course!.\u00a0 I designed a brand new ninja invitation and ninja complete printable package<\/a><\/strong> for our shop<\/a><\/strong> and used all of the printables throughout the party.<\/p>\n

I bought real bamboo shoots with the leaves on and adorned the entrance and dessert table.\u00a0 Paper lanterns<\/strong><\/a> of all different sizes were hung over the entrance as well as over the seating area.\u00a0 We used red lanterns<\/a><\/strong>, white lanterns<\/a><\/strong> and also put pops of yellow lanterns<\/a><\/strong> in as well.<\/p>\n

I added a DIY bamboo runner<\/strong> down the table. (I got inexpensive bamboo place mats<\/a><\/strong> and connected them together with some white thread).\u00a0 Lucky Bamboo shoots were displayed in the center along the table in vases with rocks.<\/p>\n

Each place setting had a black lacquer plate, red small plate and a Chinese take out box (find take out boxes here<\/a><\/strong> or here<\/a><\/strong>) with their lunch inside.\u00a0 Chopsticks<\/a><\/strong> were labeled with our printable and placed on top.\u00a0 An \u201cenjoy\u201d hang tag printable<\/a><\/strong> adorned the Chinese take-out boxes.\u00a0 A small ceramic white dish was beside the plates and it held a single piece of candy sushi on a patterned paper lining.\u00a0 Beverages were displayed in plastic bottles and adorned with a printable drink wrap and paper straw.\u00a0 Ikea pillows were placed on the floor for the children to kneel on as they ate.\u00a0 Traditional Chinese room dividing screens<\/a><\/strong> were placed around the room.<\/p>\n

On each place setting, there was a chinese take-out container with a tag that said “enjoy”.\u00a0 Inside was a fruit cup, veggie sticks and rice crackers.\u00a0 The kids loved using their chop sticks to pick up the food…. it was so cute!<\/p>\n

A Chinese screen<\/a> (Pretty inexpensive for a backdrop!) was used as the backdrop for our dessert table.\u00a0 Bamboo elements were carried in again by sticking shoots out of large black vases (similar here<\/a>).\u00a0 Rocks filled the vases to keep the bamboo in place.\u00a0 Paper lanterns<\/a> were hung from the ceiling.<\/p>\n

I scoured Ikea looking for dessert display pieces that felt \u201cAsian\u201d.\u00a0 I ended up with bamboo bath organizing caddies<\/a> that I stacked together to use as the tiered dessert trays in the middle of the table.\u00a0 A fabulous Cake from Got What It Cakes<\/a><\/strong> was the centerpiece and had ninja stars sticking out of the sides. \u00a0 Fabulous cookies from Whip It Good Cookies <\/a><\/strong>were placed on smaller black glass stands in the center of the table. (Tip: We propped them up with small meringues so you could see them instead of laying them flat on the stands)<\/p>\n

The second tier held ceramic black\/white vessels from Ikea and cupcakes with origami DIY ninja star toppers that we made out of our printable patterned papers.\u00a0 They were wrapped with cupcake wrappers from Bella Cupcake Couture<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The bottom level had Chinese tasting spoons with red sprinkles and a ninja star cake pop from Pop A Razzi<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Red Chinese take-out containers were filled with rice cracker mix from Oh!Nuts<\/a><\/strong> and labeled with our printables.<\/p>\n

Vessels were filled with cookies that had an adorable red\/white dot\/line pattern (reminded me of lanterns) from Sweeties by Kim<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 We lined trays with our patterned papers and put green jelly beans (edamame) in clear fun shot glasses with some green sushi grass and labeled them with a printable \u201cedamame\u201d flag.<\/p>\n

I love the mixed use of paper lanterns. We used various sizes of paper lanterns<\/a> and they were so inexpensive and effective!<\/p>\n

Our printable dragon poster (now available for instant download in our shop<\/a>) was used as the backdrop for our Candy Take-Out.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong> The idea here was to have the children fill their little chinese take-out containers with candy.\u00a0 A red Asian runner from A to Zebra Celebrations<\/a> <\/strong>was used on the black lacquer furniture.\u00a0 We filled vertical rectangular vessels with various candies (Oh!Nuts).\u00a0 Cookies from Whip It Good Cookies were adorned with printable party flags and stuck out of the vessels.\u00a0 Also, homemade lollipops from This Charming Candy<\/a><\/strong> were flagged and stuck out of the vessels.\u00a0 Cake pops from Pop A Razzi were flagged and placed on white ceramic tasting spoons and placed on a wooden sushi board.<\/p>\n

We adorned the front of the buffet with a Ninja Star shaped printable banner.\u00a0 (Available for instant download in our shop<\/strong><\/a>).\u00a0 It read \u201cCandy Take-Out\u201d and the boys loved it!<\/p>\n

A printable patterned poster was used for the backdrop and a red lantern was hung over top the favor table.\u00a0 We used a bookshelf that we lined with red wrapping paper for the table.\u00a0 Large Chinese take-out containers (Nashville Wraps<\/a><\/strong>) were tagged with our printable laminated favor hang tag (the kids can use these later for luggage tags\/school bag tags!). The children would use these at the end of the party to get their favors.<\/p>\n

Printable Ninjago Coloring books were \u201cbound\u201d with twine and the kids could take the coloring book and some lego shaped crayons (from Posh Paper Creations<\/a><\/strong>).\u00a0 The coloring books were displayed in bamboo boxes from Ikea.\u00a0 The other side had a bamboo box with small Lego Ninjago sets that the children could take home.\u00a0 They also got a lego man shaped soap (from Favors by Angelique<\/a><\/strong>)\u00a0 Amazing Lego Ninjago Cake pops from Pop A Razzi were placed in the red lacquer bowls.\u00a0\u00a0 Sugar cookies were displayed on bamboo soap dishes as well as circular rice krispie treats.\u00a0 The rice krispie treats were topped with adorable fondant toppers that Two Sugar Babies<\/a><\/strong> made using our custom printables and their fondant Lego brick shape.<\/p>\n

Aren’t the fondant toppers from Two Sugar Babies <\/a>so fun and modern? Charynn always amazes us. She took our patterned paper from the collection and used it in the fondant design that we used to top rice krispie treats!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Jeffrey loved coloring the printable coloring book (in our shop<\/a> now!) with the fun Lego shaped crayons from Posh Paper Creations<\/a>.
\n<\/a><\/p>\n

I made candy sushi and packaged it in an adorable clear candy container from Nashville Wraps.\u00a0 I lined the bottom with our printable patterned paper underneath the container to add interest.\u00a0 I used rice krispies, marshmallows, Swedish fish, gummy green\/white rings (to resemble cucumber), starburst and airheads (to resemble the fish) and orange sprinkles (to resemble roe).\u00a0 I made green meringues that represented the wasabi and used peach tinted fondant for the ginger.\u00a0 I separated the sides with some green sushi grass (like you see in real sushi take-out containers!).\u00a0 We tied them up cute with twine (The Twinery) and a printable favor tag.<\/a><\/p>\n

The main activity was the Lego Ninjago Battle.\u00a0 My son, Jeffrey, has tons of Lego Ninjago spinners and weapons so we set those out and the children got to battle with each other.\u00a0 We bought the arena at the local Lego Store and we kept track of points for each battle.\u00a0 This kept them entertained for awhile!<\/p>\n

The third activity was origami star making. I printed out patterned paper from our printable ninja collection on copy paper and taught the kids how to make origami ninja stars.\u00a0 (These are what I hot glued to lolli sticks and stuck into the cupcakes on the dessert table).\u00a0 We have all of these activity printables available in our shop.<\/a><\/p>\n

When the kids arrived, they received a personalized dragon shirt with their name and a ninja star on the backside and a ninja headband (from Made by Morgan<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

I bought some fake Chinese money at our local Asian grocery store.\u00a0 My kids love fake money so we decided to use this to give the kids who won the games during the party. At the end of the party, they would \u201cBuy\u201d candy from the Candy Take-Out station and the favor table. (Really they just got to take whatever they wanted and keep the fake Asian money).<\/p>\n

The first game was our \u201cFortune Cookie Toss\u201d.\u00a0 We printed 3, 5, 7 point logos<\/a> and placed them on the Chinese take-out containers that we hung from the Chinese folding screen.\u00a0 They were left open so that the children had to try and toss the cookie into the containers. The children received points for each cookie they got in the container.<\/p>\n

The second game was a \u201cNinja Star Throwing\u201d Game.<\/strong>\u00a0 I bought rubber ninja \u201cshuriken\u201d stars online<\/a> and they are safe but do stick into styrofoam.\u00a0 I used a printable game poster<\/a> with a giant ninja star and 7 in the center.\u00a0 The kids got 4 stars to throw.\u00a0 For each one they got in the board, they got a point.\u00a0 If they hit the 7, they got 7 points.\u00a0 The boys LOVED this game!<\/p>\n

I personalized favor tags<\/a> and laminated them for the kids’ takeout containers that they used to take their favors home in.\u00a0 They get to use these on their school bags, lunch bags, etc so it made a great reusable favor that the kids went nuts over!<\/p>\n

We had a custom pinata (by Partylicious<\/a><\/strong>) made for the party. The little ninjas used bamboo sticks to take their hits at the pinata.\u00a0 Amazing, right!?<\/p>\n

The children had a blast and didn\u2019t want to leave!\u00a0 This theme is great for a regular Ninja party or a Lego Ninjago inspired party!<\/p>\n
