I love the story behind the Aiken family’s entrance in to the world of children’s clothing. In Patsy’s own words, “In 1979, I began selling my designs to a favorite children’s boutique in Coronado, California, where our family was stationed, in the Navy. Friends and neighbors rode their bikes over to help us sew, and our two young children, Weston and Holly, were fit models and quality testers. All of this activity took place in a small room over our garage, using an old closet door as a cutting table. Two years later, my husband Joel, a Naval Aviator, joined me, so that we could run our new company together.<\/em><\/div>\n
Today, our company, Patsy Aiken Designs, is based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Still a family business, Joel is in charge of finance, planning and information technology and I oversee product design and manufacturing.. Our special collections, once sold exclusively in upscale department and specialty stores, are now sold through our exciting Chez Ami home party line.”<\/em><\/div>\n
