<\/a>It’s Spring Cleaning season and that means its time to organize your office! \u00a0I recently created a Rustic Makeover in my home office and wanted to share my ideas with you today. \u00a0My office is where I spend most of my time and it was becoming a complete mess. \u00a0All of my craft supplies were being stuffed in random spots throughout my desk area and I finally had had enough! \u00a0I decided to get organized using a neutral monochromatic color scheme along with inexpensive supplies & containers such as: \u00a0wooden dowel rods, salt & pepper shakers and mason jars.<\/p>\nSee below for easy organization ideas!<\/p>\n

\nBefore, I was cramming all my ribbon spools into a closed box – they were unraveling, along with becoming such a mess I couldn’t see what colors I had. \u00a0I decided to use inexpensive dowel rods from Walmart’s Craft Section <\/a>as a way to stack my ribbons. \u00a0At the bottom of the first stacked ribbon, I put a piece of tape across to keep the rod from moving around.
\n<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
\nBefore, I had the original plastic bottles stacked in my office shelving unit – they were mis-matched & bulky. \u00a0Not too mention, aesthetically\u00a0unappealing. \u00a0I found packs of salt & pepper shakers from Walmart’s Kitchen Section<\/a>\u00a0and poured my glitter into each bottle. \u00a0I then lined them in a rustic rectangular\u00a0wire basket to give a vintage feel. \u00a0I found the baskets at Home Goods<\/a> – they have the best container options right now in their stores.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nBefore, I stuck my paint tubes in a random kitchen cabinet nowhere near my office. \u00a0I wanted my paint in the correct room of my house, so again – I found a second\u00a0rustic\u00a0rectangular\u00a0wire basket (from\u00a0Home Goods<\/a>). \u00a0Just placing it neatly in the container gave it an orderly feel and I can see what I have at a quick glance. I never knew before what paint colors I had, and continually would pick up colors I didn’t need.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nThis one, I have always done… but I updated my cans with a cool printed chevron burlap I found at Hobby Lobby<\/a>. \u00a0It is rustic and trendy at the same time, which I just love. \u00a0I used new paint cans from Sherwin Williams (I actually went into the store years ago and asked if I could have some empty cans – they gave them to me for little $). However, you can use recycled large tomato or coffee cans to wrap your fabric around with a little glue.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nI can’t help myself – I have to keep all salvageable ribbon scraps… I just cannot throw them away. \u00a0Before, I would shove them in ziplock baggies in a closed container. I didn’t know what I had, and they would fall out and make a mess in the box (because I never zipped the bags correctly and they were over-stuffed). \u00a0Instead, I bought mason jars and added a little\u00a0printed chevron burlap (Hobby Lobby<\/a>) to each lid. \u00a0I cut the burlap into circles and glued it to the lid. \u00a0Then I glued the lid to the rim of the mason jar. \u00a0Last, I organized the ribbons scraps by similar colors. So easy!<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/em>Before, I was cramming yarn (the last 1\/4 of it) into my over-stuffed ribbon box. \u00a0It was an absolute train wreck!! The yarn was getting tangled and creating a terrible mess! \u00a0I took all my yarn that was falling apart and rolled into balls. \u00a0I then used pearl pins to close each strand from unwinding. \u00a0How great do these look now? I know what I have, and it is so adorable in a wire mesh basket. \u00a0(This one was a little time consuming… I would do it at night while watching TV – however, it was totally worth it).

\n<\/strong><\/em>Before I had mis-matched containers I was storing my glues, craft punches, tapes etc. and it looked unorganized and cluttered. \u00a0Just by buying matching containers, it transformed my shelves from trash to treasure! \u00a0I found these fabric lined wire mesh baskets<\/a> on sale at World Market<\/a>! \u00a0I put them on my desk shelving unit and also to the side of my desk on a wooden stacking shelf.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/em>This one, I have always done but my wooden ladder was pink. \u00a0I found the ladder at an antique store for like $20 several years ago. \u00a0I recently spray painted it white to match the new colors in my office. \u00a0I just love the interest it adds to the room – giving a vintage feel but still orderly. \u00a0I keep magazines on it that I want to hold on to – and rotate them out from time to time.<\/p>\n
