RECIPE FOR FROZEN MINT JULEPS<\/a> 
\n{Recipe courtesy of Emeril Lagasse<\/a>}<\/p>\n

Ingredients
\n1 1\/2 cups sugar, plus more for garnish
\n1 cup water
\n2 cups packed fresh mint leaves, coarsely chopped
\n8 cups ice cubes
\n2 cups bourbon
\nOrange slices, for garnish (optional)
\nMint sprigs, for garnish (optional)<\/p>\n

Directions
\nCombine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and simmer until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and add the mint leaves. Allow to steep until cooled. Once cooled, strain out the leaves.<\/p>\n

Combine half of the mint syrup, 4 cups ice, and 1 cup bourbon in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a pitcher. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Rub the rims of julep cups, if available, or wide-mouthed, long-stemmed glasses with orange slices and dip the rims in sugar, then fill with the frozen mint juleps. Garnish each with an orange slice and mint sprig and serve immediately.

Don’t forget to make your DIY Kentucky Derby Decor with a little Rust-Oleum Spray Paint<\/a>! They have so many fun colors to choose from – we just love them!
\n1. Find inexpensive plastic horses and shoehorses in toy sections of discount stores or craft stores.  
\n2. Spray paint in your favorite colors to coordinate with your Kentucky Derby Party!<\/p>\n

 I spray painted two different plastic horses and shoehorse in navy, aqua & mint!  I just love how simple this was and added the perfect detail to my set-up.<\/p>\n

You can’t have a Derby Bar without a little wagering action.  We created betting cards for those who want to get down to business, and also a little Kentucky Derby Hat Draw for those who want to keep it simple.  *Note: Our friends like to throw all the numbers in a hat.  Once you pick your number, you figure out what horse it is… whichever horse wins, is the winner of the Derby Hat Draw!<\/p>\n
