Today we want to share with you an easy tutorial on how to make wooden cake stands.<\/p>\n

If you recall, we had a fabulous giveaway<\/a> a few weeks ago from A Fabulous Fete<\/a>\u00a0showing off her beautiful wooden cake stands.\u00a0 Lauren, the owner sent us several to use for our Christmas photoshoot, \u00a0North Pole Christmas Holiday Printable Collection<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0We decided we loved them so much, we had to make more!<\/p>\n

While we made them, we thought it would be great to photograph the steps for those of you who might want to make some as well.\u00a0 However, if you aren’t as handy… don’t forget about Lauren’s originals from\u00a0A Fabulous Fete<\/a>!!!<\/p>\n

Supplies needed:<\/p>\n

1. Unfinished\u00a0wooden candlesticks – various sizes<\/p>\n

2. Unfinished\u00a0wooden circular plaques (with beveled edges)\u00a0– various sizes<\/p>\n

3. Permanent wood glue\/gorilla glue<\/p>\n

4. Spray paint<\/p>\n

First you need to glue the top of each wooden candlestick to the center of the bottom\u00a0of the wooden plaques.\u00a0 Let dry according to glue directions.<\/p>\n

Next, spray paint the unfinished wooden cake stands\u00a0 (follow spray painting directions from can)<\/p>\n

We painted the bottom sides first.\u00a0 Let\u00a0them dry… then painted the top-sides.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

We applied several coats throughout the day to ensure all sides were coated evenly.\u00a0 Spray paint dries quickly… so we were able to apply coats every 10 min or so.<\/p>\n

That’s it!<\/p>\n

Below on the dessert table, were our painted cake stands.\u00a0 We used them to display various cookies!<\/p>\n

<\/a>The cake stands that we used for the Hot Chocolate Bar<\/a> were from \u00a0A Fabulous Fete<\/a>!\u00a0 She created her tops of the circular plaques with the smaller beveled edge towards the bottom, and we did the reverse.\u00a0 Either way works just great!<\/p>\n
