If you are a busy mom like me, then you want to enjoy your children on Christmas morning. As a kid, my parents would have us wake up and open our gifts and then they would prepare a big holiday breakfast. They would even take their showers, get all pretty and dressed. I remember my mom being so busy in the kitchen and I know that she would have enjoyed relaxing and watching us play with our new toys!
When I became a mom, I told myself I would never stress out on Christmas morning because it just wasn’t worth it! So now on Christmas morning, I stay in my PJs with my kids and don’t bother with a big fancy breakfast. We just hang out and enjoy each other and play. However, they are always starving after the gift opening, so we love to make yummy holiday breakfast yogurt parfaits!
We even have made them the night before and left one for Santa! (They are even better in the morning – the cereal gets a little moist and chewy and the frozen fruit gets juicy!
So, my boys are cereal monsters and one of their favorites is Oatmeal Squares by Quaker. Here is the easy tutorial on how to make these yummy Holiday Yogurt and Granola Parfaits.
We went to Walmart to get my boys’ favorite types of cereal. We bought Quaker® Real Medleys® and Quaker® Simply Granola. The boys had not tried the Simply Granola and were so excited to try it!
Then, we got out frozen raspberries and strawberries. We didn’t need to thaw them because my boys like these granola parfaits overnight so they get juicy the next morning! We layered yogurt, berries and the 2 kinds of cereal in mason jars. Then, we topped it off with a sprig of mint for our red and green coloring!
These turned out SO yummy!
I’ve shared my favorite holiday breakfast tradition, now I’d love to hear yours! Comment below and tell me what you like to make!
