A Nautical Style Mermaid and Beach Party

Mandie (the fabulous owner of Got What It Cakes) always blows me away with her beautiful cakes and desserts.  (Remember her daughter’s recent Parisian party that was featured in Little Ones magazine!?) Recently, she planned her daughter’s 3rd birthday party (Nautical Style Mermaid and Beach party) and we helped design the printables for the event.  Mandie’s daughter, Lilly, LOVES Little Mermaid but Mandie wanted to make it a less commercial version.  We decided to do a more nautical look but still incorporate a mermaid and under the sea / beach type designs.

I’m excited to share Mandie’s daughter’s party today…. Starting off with the real eye candy.  The beautiful photos were taken by Mandie’s BFF, Kristi, of KCP Photography.

How gorgeous is the ombre cake?  Mandie took our pattern from the printables (The same pattern that is in the mermaid’s tail) and created the pattern in an ombre effect on the cake.  The inside was even ombre.  Gorgeous.

I also adore the use of white rope to convey the beach/nautical feel.

Seashell cookies were displayed, along with glass vessels that held mini cupcake ice cream cones and cruffles.  We used real sand inside the containers as the filler.

To keep with the beach feel, Mandie used her graham cracker/brown sugar concoction around the cake to make the cake feel like its in the sand.  (I want to eat that sand!)

Seashell chocolates were a MUST…. (also displayed on a graham cracker/brown sugar lined tray)  White round donuts were turned into life preservers.  The kids ADORED those!

Boys and girls attended the party, so Mandie got pink and aqua buckets to put their lunches in.  This would also serve as the favor container for the kids to collect goodies throughout the party.  The buckets were embellished with a printable favor hangtag that was personalized with their names.

The pail lunches consisted of goldfish, beach ball fruit (Grapes), and seashell pasta salad.  The centerpieces were glass vessels with lollipops in the coordinating aqua and pink colors.

Mandie made an adorable life preserver on the front door and embellished it with a party sign.

Mandie made the most delish shrimp salad inside filo shells.  She also served blue punch.

Isn’t Lilly precious?  Her grandma made her this adorable Mermaid costume for her big day.

The kids had a blast painting their wooden seashells.  Mandie laid down kraft paper (to look like sand!) and let the kids use aqua/white/pink paints to decorate.

We designed a custom coloring book that was given to the kids as a take home favor.

Here is Mandie and her sweet family…

Gorgeous job, Mandie!
