A Whimsical & Sweet Ombre Princess Party

Xiomara, the owner of A Styled Fete, recently planned the most gorgeous princess party for her daughter Adriana.  Remember Xio’s neon bridal shower we shared a few months ago?  Well, we love her work and are so thrilled to share this party with you today.

We loved working on the printable graphics and invitation and adore what she did with the styling.

I adore the whimsical styling mixed with some vintage decor.

Here are the party details as told bio Xiomara….
Adriana had been talking about her 5th birthday party since her last Birthday party…this always happens. If it were up to her, there would be someone’s birthday celebrated every day. Needless to say she loves parties. This time, from the very beginning she said she wanted a Princess Tea Party. I knew this day would come, I think almost every little girl’s mom knows it. I was so excited to plan this party for her, it was the time to embrace the pink and sparkle loving little girl still in me! When I asked what she had in mind she said things like: pink, sparkle, magical, flowers, dress up and a unicorn! A unicorn, really? How was I supposed to find a unicorn? I knew I had a lot of work to do.

I was very inspired by Sheila Walsh’s “God’s Little Princess” Devotional Bible- at the beginning of the book it quotes Psalm 139 where it says: “You made my whole being. You formed me in my mother’s body. I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well.” I knew I wanted to use this quote for the party because the reality is, every girl is a princess! I also wanted the party to feel and look very soft, romantic and dreamy with a touch of vintage charm.

When guest came in they were greeted by a pink tea cart that had the “Every girl is a Princess” sign and some flowers. The party was held inside our house and we emptied our dining room and my office to have her party indoors because it was so hot out. We had two party rooms, one served as a Tea Room and another room where we set up different stations for the girls to decorate their princess crowns, play dress up and get manicures.

I hung about 20 tissue fans in different shades of pink from the ceiling of our Tea Room to create that “magical/dreamy” ambiance I was going for. It covered the entire room and really made a statement when you walked in, I loved how it turned out! Under it we set up the Dessert Table and kid sized tables for the girls to have tea. The focal point of the Dessert Table was a twig wreath I bought at Hobby Lobby and then decorated with some flowers. I wanted to recreate the wreath and monogram the invites had. I purchased bendable wire from the jewelry making aisle and tried to replicate the same “A”. After I had my wire “A”, I used modeling clay to cover it and make it sturdier. When it was dry, I spray painted it in gold.

I had a pink ombré “tutu” table cloth I had made for a previous party and I knew it would be perfect for this Dessert Table. I think the twig wreath paired with the tulle and flowers really went well together.

The dessert table included pink strawberry slippers, tea cakes with sparkly stars sprinkled on top, beautiful vintage rosette sugar cookies, pink macarons, mini fruit tarts, cupcake with “tea time” and “pinkies up” flags, pearl gumballs and chocolate princess slippers (which were acrylic slippers I had found at the Dollar Store on the wedding aisle and filled up with sparkly pink sixlets). The beautiful birthday cake was made by my mom and adorned with some gum paste peonies I bought from A Cake to Remember. For the cake we made three round cakes and covered them in different shades of pink fondant for an ombré effect. We hung a pearl necklace from the peonies on the cake to give it that girly, vintage look.

The tea tables were dressed in light pink table cloths and vintage rose buds -fabric table runners. I really wanted mismatched “real” tea cups, tea pots and saucers for the tables but I would’ve spent a fortune on them if I were to purchase them. My mom decided to talk to family members and friends about my search for these beautiful little treasures and it turned out my grandma and other family members had some. In just a few days I had all the tea cups and saucers I needed and for free!! I was so happy with my new little collection of family heirlooms. Each table setting had a teacup and saucer on top of a lace paper plate and doily. When it was tea time we served princess slipper shaped cream cheese and jelly sandwiches, ham and cheese sandwiches, cheese tortellini, strawberries and of course, pink lemonade. Each girl also had a tulle pom pom wand at the table. The girls loved twirling around with them after tea.

In the other room, I set up a table under a pink chandelier with everything a little girl could dream of when playing dress up. We had princess slippers for every girl, fancy necklaces, bracelets and pink lip gloss. At this table we also had party favors which were pretty pink clutches adorned with a fabric rosette I made. Inside, it had a pair of dress up earrings, a nail polish and file. We also had “perfume” bottle bubbles for our younger princesses. I created a “garland” of tutus and hung it from this room’s window ready to be worn by all our princesses. I had found some pretty lace crowns on Pinterest that I fell madly in love with and my mom and I  made them for the party. Except we painted them gold and glued to metal headbands. An array of pink sparkly flowers and pearl embellishments were provided for the girls to adorn their crown. We also had a manicure station were every girl got to pick their nail polish color and get a little manicure. It was so much fun to watch them get all dolled up!

At the end of the party I had a little surprise for my little princess…remember the unicorn she asked for? Well, I was able to find a white pony and dress it up as a unicorn! We all went outside and each girl got to ride the “unicorn” around our backyard. These girls went crazy when they saw it! Adriana absolutely loved it! She couldn’t believe I had brought a unicorn to our house! Doesn’t she know? I would do anything for her.

Another year went by, unbelievable!! Every day I watch her become into this beautiful, smart, thoughtful and sweet little lady. I just couldn’t imagine my world without her. It might’ve been her Princess party but she is MY happily ever after. Adriana, I love you with my whole heart for my whole life.

  1. What an absolutely breathtaking and beautiful party! I was hoping you might be willing to share your source for the lace you used in the mini crowns on the headbands? I love making lace crowns, but the lace at our fabric store leaves much to be desired. The design you used is just the type I’ve been dreaming of! Thanks! Jenn/Rook No. 17

  2. Can you give me more information on how you created the girls crowns on headbands, materials used… or where you bought them. They are WONDERFUL! Thank you 🙂
