Ruff Draft: Celebrating Teachers – DIY Snack Bag

tote-diy

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week – Let’s celebrate them with a cute gift idea!

I am loving these cotton bags found at Nashville Wraps!  Maureen and I were trying to think of something to give to teachers and we came up with a DIY snack bag!  All teachers love to have a snack at school, so this is perfect to pass to them filled with goodies, and then they can re-use!  (great for end of year gift too)

This takes minimal time, and you can have your kids make it!

Supplies needed:
Small snack bag tote (we love Nashville Wraps for this)
Fabric paint (I used neon colors and gold)
Circle sponge brushes
Wax paper

Directions:
1.  Cut a piece of wax paper and insert into bag (prevents paint from bleeding through to the other side)
2.  Fill paint tray with different paint colors
3.  Using circular sponge, dip into paint and stamp on

4.  Place dots in a scattered pattern to create a confetti look!
5.  Allow drying time according to paint directions.
6.  Repeat process on backside
7.  Once backside dries, you can fill your snack bag.

{Snack suggestions}
a. Grapes, cheese & crackers
b. Fresh fruit like apples or pears from Farmer’s Market
c. Home-made jam or gourmet jam with crackers and cute knife
d. Home-made trail mix packaged with a cute ingredients tag

8. Once bag is filled, add tissue paper and a thank you tag (this tag is from our Neon Bridal Collection)

My kids loved helping with this, and asked to make extras so they could have one as well!

A big shout out to all the amazing teachers that make our schools a better place!!!  THANK YOU!!!!

  1. If you were to put grapes and cheese in the bag, would you place them in baggies or line it with wax paper so not to get the tissue paper wet?

    1. Hi Nicole – I would either put the grapes and cheese in baggies or wrap in saran wrap… (sometimes saran wrap can look nice with a little piece of twine wrapped around it… adds a touch of detail). You can even tie on a note that says what kind of cheese it is… I hope that helps!
