If you know a little girl that loves American Girl Dolls, then this party is for you!  I am so excited to finally share our latest American Girl Doll Birthday Party that we styled.  Our sweet friend and client, Yolanda of Kiss Me Kate, visited us this summer in Charlotte (We had SO much fun!).  While she was touring the USA, her daughter celebrated her birthday and we decided to surprise her with a party. (Her daughter loves Dolls!)  It was the perfect theme to surprise our Australia guests!

Our fabulous photographer, Becca Bond, came the morning of the party to take photos of the setup (with Grayce, Adria’s daughter, modeling the adorable clothes by Great Stitch!)

The Birthday Girl Printables are available in our shop here!

Some of our favorite elements from the party were:

– Place setting: Ombre wooden utensils & translucent plates showing star silhouette underneath
– Ombre Tissue Paper DIY Flower Bouquets
– Doll House favor box milk cartons
– Cut Vinyl Star Silhouettes Scattered on the backdrop
– Gourmet Ombre Marshmallows and Star Lollipops
– Ruffled crepe paper streamers

Party Activities and Details…
:

Our friend, Yolanda Cerra of Kiss Me Kate from Australia planned to visit the states this summer.  She was spending 3 weeks in the US and one of her stops was in South Carolina to visit us!  We found out that her daughter was turning 5 during their 3 week trip to the states.  Her daughter loves dolls so what more perfect theme than to introduce her to America with an American Girl Doll inspired party theme!? Oh, and it was a SURPRISE, too!

We designed a new printable collection and invitation that was perfect to coordinate with this American Girl Doll party theme.

We also came up with a fun idea for a star shaped bubble wand. See the Bubble Wand tutorial (great idea for a favor!)

DESSERT TABLE

We found perfect “All American” wide pink striped fabric and covered our backdrop.  We then added the ruffled streamers from Handmade Laine to the backdrop.  Die cut vinyl stars were adhered to the backdrop.

To feel more whimsical, we tied the polka dot balloons to the sides of the table using hot pink tulle instead of ribbon.  Tulle is so cheap and I love the effect it has!

We used a real Doll House to hold some of the adorable desserts, which was perfect!  We dressed it up with the ruffled streamers as well as some printable patterned paper to cover the back walls of the house.

Adorable ruffle cupcakes from Cupcrazed were displayed with star silhouettes from our printable collection.  We wrapped the cupcake with a printable cupcake wrapper from the collection as well.

The Doll House display also held gorgeous layered ombre gourmet marshmallows from Madyson’s Marshmallows.  Adorable printable party flags were stuck into each marshmallow square.

Cookies were displayed on the bottom tier of the doll house.  The ombre star and “N” cookies were from Whimsy Cookie Company and were so soft and delicious!

The talented Got What It Cakes made two cakes for the party – both with ruffles!  One for the birthday girl and one for her doll!  The larger cake had a gorgeous custom wooden cake topper from Ten23 Designs.

We also displayed the gorgeous ruffle Cupcrazed cupcakes on the white candlesticks.

I made ombre macarons for the party and layered them in a tiered fashion on a pink milk glass cake stand.  (These are so much fun to make! You should try it!)

Another plate of cookies was displayed in front of the cake.  It held gorgeous cookies and mini cookies (for the dolls!) from Nicole Lee Confections.

Gorgeous tissue ombre flowers that we made and placed in white milk glass vases.  This helped add “life” to the table while still feeling whimsical like a doll party should!  We showed how to make these tissue paper flowers on our Ruff Draft.

The printable birthday banner from our printable collection was strung on the front of the dessert table.

FAVOR TABLE

We continued the look of the dessert table backdrop with the favor table backdrop.

We purchased an American Girl Doll for Neveah, Yolanda’s daughter.  Since this was her first time in the states, it was also her first time hearing about American Girl Dolls.  We wrapped the box simply so that the doll could be part of the decor on the favor table.  We added ribbon and a printable label from our collection.

We also displayed some favor boxes that we designed that looked like doll house milk cartons.  The kids used these to fill up with little cookies and treats.  More cookies from Whimsy Cookie Company were displayed.

Another vase of the tissue ombre flowers were placed on the table.

CHILDREN’S SEATING & TABLE

We created short runners out of coordinating polka dot fabric for the children’s table.  Each of the chairs had ruffled streamer decor from Handmade Laine.  We also used the ruffled streamer to cover Adria’s light fixture that was large and black overhead.  It helped make that not an “eye sore” at the party where everything else was pink and red.

Each seat had an American Girl Doll that was holding a cute little hot pink favor tin that was embellished with a printable favor tag.  They also held a single ombre tissue flower.

I found adorable white ceramic plates that were modern and had space for treats to be placed on the sides.  We decided to use low cost plastic Target plates that were see-thru light pink.  To help tie in the stars, we printed our star design and placed it underneath the plate so that it still showed through when the plate was on the white ceramic charger plate.

Red Star Lollipops from Sweet Niks were placed on the corners of each of the place settings.  To tie into the theme, we added a printable party flag to the stick of those lollipops.  How cute would chocolate star lollipops be with this mold or this mold!?

Mini cookies (doll sized) from Nicole Lee Confections were placed on the other corner of the white charger.  We also added a printable folding party label as a place card with each child’s name personalized.  Adorable custom Ombre wooden utensils from Sucre Shop were placed at each child’s place setting.

Adorable glass drink bottles from the cute party shop Via Blossom were wrapped with a printable drink wrapper and filled with strawberry milk.  Paper straws were embellished with a printable party flag and adhered to the side with some double sided tape.

The center of the table held a red tray that was filled with treats.  Cake stands held more adorable ruffled cupcakes.  We placed the mini cupcakes in these precious blossom paper cups from Via Blossom.

Another cake stand held custom chocolate covered oreos from Sweeties by Kim.  Kim designed them to look just like our star patterns – they were perfect!

FASHION

Brenda of Great Stitch designed an adorable outfit with a custom t-shirt and adorable ruffled petiskirt.  It looked so precious with the coordinating headband.

Great Stitch also stitched up some monogrammed custom beverage napkins.  Every tea party has to have cute napkins!

Evelyn’s Whim also sent a coordinating hair accessory which was precious in the tones of pink, red and white.
