We sell our Milk and Cookies collection for all kinds of events and each one has it’s own little twist and uniqueness, but Ruby’s first birthday party was definitely personalized and filled with so many beautiful DIY touches that we just had to share it.

For our new 1-year old, Ruby Jane’s birthday, the theme of the party was a milk & cookies reception. We staged our entry way to be warm and welcoming to all.
The high chair area was decorated for her to eat her cake and for the birthday song. The backdrop is made out of vintage book pages glued with spray adhesive to butcher paper. This came together very quickly.
We used our mantle piece to make a big statement in the living room. We found three books, and spelled out ‘je’taime’ in gold lettering in the books.
We ordered the custom-party favors from Anders Ruff. They were filled with pink M&M’s. One of our favorite sweet treats were the ombre-frosted pink heart shortbread cookies.
We did lots of DIYs, including an easy-to-do paper wreath, ‘LOVE’ letters from JoAnn Fabrics, spray painted gold, and a book pages heart garland. For the photo sign, we printed our favorite Instagram photos from this easy-to-use website. You can get 24 pics for $12! We also made some paper heart garlands for the main area and put pink tulips in Anthropologie mugs, which made a beautiful centerpiece.
For Korean babies, it is traditional to have them pick an object which will describe their future. Guests could make a guess as to what Ruby would pick. Ruby wore a traditional Korean hanbok and picked the musical instrument.
We hired a chalk artist to put together a few fun facts about Ruby. We also hired a caricature artist to do portraits to keep the kids entertained.
