A Tea Party with Baby Dolls and Tutus

I was super excited when my 3 year old wanted a Tea Party for her 4th birthday!  Most Moms of little girls dream of a glitzy tea party with their little girl at least once so this was my chance.  She loved her doll “Pretty” and loved dressing up so our Tea Party with Baby Dolls and Tutus collection was perfect for her birthday party! I attempted to pretty much DIY everything in order to save money and because I just love doing those types of things. It makes it more fun for me.  Thanks to the help of my sister who photographed the party, rescued me from a disastrous DIY pinata, and stayed up until the wee hours of the morning helping me make decorations – the party brought lots of smiles and giggles and that is truly what it was all for!

tutusOne of my favorite companies in this world, Great Stitch, provided Tyler and “Pretty” with the cutest matching birthday outfits that also coordinated perfectly with the decorations and theme.  When the girls arrived each one got to pick out a tutu for their baby doll or stuffed animal that they brought with them!  Then we had a long table set up with little tea cups and lots of stickers so they could decorate their own little tea cup.  We made these out of clear plastic cocktail cups wrapped with white cardstock and a handle made of cardstock.  We wanted something the girls could decorate, but that we didn’t have to worry about breaking and these turned out to be perfect!

Pinata - tylerI did attempt to make a round pinata that I was going to cover with flowers, but my round pinata looked like an amoeba and not a pretty one either.  So, we pleated some tissue paper around it so it “looked” round.  We then attached one string to the trap door at the bottom and tucked a bunch of others in.  Each girl got to pull on a string, but only one actually opened the door.  This way everyone got a turn and there were no tears.  Inside were enough goody bags for each girl to get one.  The goody bags were stuffed with bubbles, candy, little princess cameras, and rungs.
