My husband and I are preparing for a Football Party and of course he is begging me to serve up Hot Wings alongside our chili bar. We love Hot Wings (especially for certain occasions such as football parties and tailgates!) but have never made them ourselves. (A little intimidated and never seem to find the time).
I was at Walmart and got to demo their Tyson Hot Wings and General Tso’s Boneless Wings that are available already cooked in the deli! (Could you get any easier, really!?). (I have a feeling we will be grabbing some to head to football tailgates, too.)
My family loves big salads as meals sometimes, so finding these already cooked wings gave me the idea to come up with a quick and easy Mexican inspired Hot Wings Salad! I have fresh cilantro and tomatoes coming out of my ears in my garden, so it is a perfect reason to use up some of my harvest and make a Cilantro Lime Ranch dressing to go alongside! (Don’t want the salad? Just make the cilantro lime ranch to go alongside the Wings to dip! YUM!)
At our Football Party, I know these wings and dip will be a big hit! I think everyone will be surprised to see a Hot Wings Salad bar alongside the regular wings to dip.. What a fun alternative!
This salad is SO easy to make and tastes so good with the combination of the hot sauce and the doctored up Kraft Ranch Dressing. (Who knew adding a little cilantro, garlic and lime to ranch would be so tasty!?)
Today, I’ll share my secret recipe and an idea for a Salad Bar for your next Football Party!
I always start out by cutting up the fresh ingredients and displaying them on a tray. I warmed up the Hot Wings so that people could grab as many as they want to put on the top of their salad.
INDIVIDUAL SALAD INGREDIENTS:
– 3-6 Hot Wings (found in Walmart’s Deli)
– 1 Romaine Lettuce Heart, Chopped
– 1/4 c. Cheddar Cheese
– 1/3 c. Cherry Tomatoes
– 1/2 c. Black Beans
– 1/2 c. Corn (We used frozen but you can use fresh or canned)
– 6 Avocado wedges (half an avocado)
– Lime Wedges (2-3)
DRESSING INGREDIENTS:
– 1 c. Kraft Ranch Dressing
– 1/4 c. Fresh Cilantro
– 1 T Lime Juice
– 1 Garlic Clove
For the dressing, we used an emulsion blender (my favorite tool for dressings and smooth soups!) or you can use a food processor.
Add all of the ingredients into a bowl and use the emulsion blender to blend completely. The dressing will have a green-ish tint.
This dressing is so good and could even be served alongside wings without the salad component. That is what my husband will probably do when we watch the football game!
Now you can use the salad ingredients to top the bowl (Find the amazing Ikat bowl here) of lettuce. You can add as much as you want, but my recommendations are above in the ingredients. Top with the warm Hot Wings. YUM!
Oh, and we always get questions about where we find our ingredients and materials from our posts, so I thought I’d make it easy! I found the Wings at the Walmart Deli at the counter. You can order either by the pound (which is what I did), or as a platter or a Pick 3 Bucket.
This was SO delicious! My kids ate it in a heartbeat, too! I think I need to try to make a salad using the General Tso’s Boneless Wings, too! (Anyone have good ideas for that!?)
So, are you ready for some Football!?

This salad looks amazing and what a great idea for the wings. I’m dying to try that salad dressing/dip, too! #client
is this one serving? If not, is there only 3 wings in the salad?
Hi Debbie! We just showed one on ours, but you can add as many as you’d like!
What a BEAUTIFUL salad….love the bowl too! Looks so good…..I know someone who will love it! Besides me! And to think you can buy the wings already made at Walmart!
