Hi, Jen Carver of Banner Events here! I’m excited to share the sophisticated and stylish celebration I designed for my daughter’s 10th birthday. Reaching double digits called for an extra-special event, and this Kate Spade inspired pool party delivered the perfect mix of fashion, fun, and glamour. Featuring hot pink, gold, black, and white details, this party was filled with sparkling accents, bold patterns, fashionable accessories, and delicious desserts. The result was a chic birthday celebration that any preteen girl would love.

Kate Spade Inspired Birthday Invitations

I love creating excitement before a party begins, and the invitation is the perfect place to start. Adria from Anders Ruff designed a beautiful invitation that perfectly reflected the party theme. The black-and-white stripes and gold glitter bow became the inspiration for many of the decorations throughout the event.

To make the invitations even more memorable, each one was packaged inside a square gift box filled with hot pink paper shred from Nashville Wraps. Custom return address labels and striped ribbon completed the presentation and made opening the invitation feel like receiving a special gift.

Pool Deck Decorations and Party Styling

Before guests arrived, we transformed the pool deck into a stylish and functional party space. Since the party was held around water, every decoration needed to be both attractive and practical. To create a bold focal point, I worked with Lollipop Lights to design oversized 20-inch marquee letters inspired by the party colors. The battery-operated lights were ideal because they eliminated cords near the pool area while still making a big visual impact. The marquee letters were framed by oversized balloons decorated with tissue tassel garland from GlamFete. To bring color into the pool itself, we added gold, hot pink, and black-and-white striped beach balls.Comfortable lounge areas around the pool featured custom pillow covers from GreatStitch.com, colorful beach balls, printable pennant banners from Anders Ruff, a hot pink parasol from Via Blossom, and custom-labeled water bottles for guests.

 

Fashion-Inspired Party Favors

One of the highlights of the party was the collection of fashion-inspired favors. We displayed striped beach totes from Discount Mugs, each filled with stylish gifts for the guests. Every tote included either a pink-and-white striped towel or a black-and-white cabana-striped towel featuring a gold monogram from Monogram Muse. I love giving practical party favors that guests can continue using long after the celebration ends. Inside beautifully wrapped gift boxes from Nashville Wraps, guests discovered a complete poolside fashion ensemble. Each package included a stylish swimsuit cover-up dress, accessories, and special keepsakes designed to match the Kate Spade-inspired theme.

Kate Spade Inspired Fashion Accessories

The girls received adorable black-and-white striped swimsuit cover-up dresses from GreatStitch.com, paired with coordinating hot pink bows and flip-flops.To add extra sparkle, Anders Ruff created custom jewelry display cards that matched the party colors and theme. Each guest received bow earrings, a custom gold initial necklace from The Copper Fox, and heart-shaped sunglasses from The TomKat Studio. The girls absolutely loved their new outfits and accessories, making them feel like they had stepped into their own fashionable boutique experience.

Custom Swimsuits and Poolside Fun

Several guests wore coordinating striped and polka-dot swimsuits custom-made by Red Dolly Swim to match the party theme. Finding stylish yet age-appropriate swimwear can be challenging, so these custom suits were a perfect fit. The girls had a wonderful time posing in front of the custom photo backdrop and enjoying the pool together while showing off their coordinated looks.

Once guests arrived, they eagerly opened their gift boxes and changed into their new outfits before enjoying refreshments and poolside fun. Seeing everyone dressed in coordinating fashion pieces brought the entire theme together beautifully.

Creating the Kate Spade Inspired Dessert Table

One of my favorite parts of planning any celebration is designing the dessert table. For this party, I created a custom backdrop using a PVC pipe stand covered with black-and-white striped fabric. Gold glitter circles added a playful confetti effect, while a large custom sign from Anders Ruff served as the centerpiece. The finished display perfectly captured the sophisticated yet playful style that inspired the entire event.

The dessert table was dressed with a stunning gold sequin tablecloth from Candy Crush Events and a vibrant hot pink table runner. To add texture and color, I decorated the front of the table with a black, white, gold, and pink tissue tassel garland from GlamFete.

A collection of black, gold, and white cake stands, serving trays, and candy dishes displayed the beautiful desserts while adding height and visual interest to the table.

Kate Spade Inspired Birthday Cake

The centerpiece of the dessert table was a beautiful three-tier cake created by 4 Kids Cakes. The design stayed elegant and simple, featuring fondant confetti, a delicate bow, a heart accent, and fresh flowers from JNJ Floral.

The cake perfectly captured the sophisticated style of the entire party while serving as a stunning focal point.

 

Cupcakes and French Macarons

In addition to the cake, Christina from 4 Kids Cakes created gorgeous cupcakes topped with edible glitter accents and custom cupcake toppers.

To continue the sophisticated theme, she also made pink French macarons accented with gold details. The girls loved trying these fashionable treats, which added a fun Parisian touch to the dessert table.

Custom Decorated Cookies

Gold trays lined with coordinating patterned papers showcased a beautiful collection of custom cookies from NatSweets. The themed cookies featured fashionable details inspired by the party, including swimsuits, bows, and Kate Spade-inspired designs.

The striped swimsuit cookie was a particular favorite and perfectly reflected the stylish pool party theme.

Popcorn Display

Since popcorn is one of my daughter’s favorite snacks, I served it in mini gold popcorn boxes. To elevate the presentation, I layered party logos onto blossom cups from Via Blossom and added glittery gold acrylic bow sticks from Ten23 Designs. These simple details tied the popcorn display into the overall theme beautifully.

Fashion-Inspired Cake Pops

A collection of custom cake pops from Vypassetti Cake Pops added another fun element to the dessert table. Inspired by both fashion and poolside fun, these treats quickly became a guest favorite and fit perfectly within the Kate Spade-inspired color palette.

Mini Desserts and Sweet Treats

Mini desserts continue to be one of my favorite dessert table trends because they are easy for guests to grab and enjoy. To complete the dessert selection, I worked with Green Mountain Mini Baked and Bella’s Bakery & Bowtique to create custom treats that matched the party theme.

The dessert assortment included:

• Mini baked donuts in party colors
• Chocolate-covered Oreos decorated with bows and spades
• Spade-shaped chocolate-dipped Rice Krispy treats
• Boutique-inspired packaged desserts displayed in striped favor boxes

The creative packaging made the treats feel like fashionable accessories displayed in a luxury boutique. The desserts were not only beautiful but also incredibly delicious—and they disappeared quickly once guests started enjoying them.

Glamorous Birthday Dining Table

I wanted the girls to feel like they were dining in style, so I created a glamorous tablescape using additional sequin tablecloths from Candy Crush Events and black-and-white striped table runners from Koyal Wholesale. The chairs were dressed with white satin covers and black satin chair sashes to continue the sophisticated color palette. A custom wooden spade centerpiece from Ten23 Designs sat atop stacked boxes painted in the party colors. Fresh floral arrangements from JNJ Floral, gold votive holders, and mint julep cups added elegance and softness to the table. To personalize the décor even further, Anders Ruff designed custom Kate Spade-inspired art prints highlighting my daughter’s personality and interests. Each place setting included a decorative gable box accented with a party label and thank-you tag. Guests later filled these boxes with their favorite desserts to take home after the celebration. As expected, there wasn’t a single treat left by the end of the party.

 

DIY Kate Spade Inspired Polka Dot Plates

One of my favorite DIY projects for this event was creating custom polka dot plates. I started with inexpensive black plates from the dollar store and added white vinyl circles to recreate the look of high-end designer tableware. Ten23 Designs provided custom white vinyl dots, gold spades, and black number “10” decals that I added to the center of each plate. The project was inexpensive, easy to complete, and added a fun custom touch to the table décor.

Kate Spade Inspired Drink Station

To avoid using valuable glassware around the pool, I purchased affordable champagne flutes and gave them a stylish makeover. Using striped paper straws from Via Blossom and DIY bow accents from the Anders Ruff printable collection, the drink station instantly became another decorative feature of the party. I loved how these simple additions transformed ordinary drinkware into something special.

 

Beverage and Guest Refreshment Table

Across the room, I created a secondary refreshment station for parents, siblings, and other guests. While this table served a more practical purpose, I still wanted it to coordinate with the overall party design. Decorative bow banners, pennant garlands, balloons, water bottles, and wrapped candy bars tied everything together beautifully.

One of my favorite details was displaying chocolate-bar clutches, a creative idea that came from brainstorming new ways to present custom chocolate bar wrappers. Displaying them on a velvet jewelry stand made them look like fashionable accessories.

Pool Party Fun and Memories

One of the best parts of this birthday party was that I didn’t have to plan a long list of activities. The pool provided hours of entertainment, giving the girls plenty of opportunities to swim, laugh, play, and create memories together. This allowed me to spend more time enjoying the celebration and watching my daughter have an amazing birthday with her friends and family.

A special thank you to the McCombs family for generously opening their home and pool for this celebration. I am also incredibly grateful to my mom, who served as my right-hand assistant during setup and helped make the day run smoothly.

After creating this event, I think I may need a Kate Spade-inspired celebration of my own someday!
