It’s baby shower season and I’m excited to share with you this rustic baby shower I recently threw with several girlfriends in Ohio. Our very best friends, Mike & Jaci are expecting their first child (Baby Jacob) and we put together an elegant southern motif with elements of burlap, cotton stems, fresh flowers and wood signs. We used muted colors to match their nursery with shades of browns, greys, blues & creams. This shower was a collaborative effort from all the hostesses and had special touches from each of us (such as a bib tree, napkin flowers, and extra helping hands). We started with a hand-made invite that included a “Parent Advice” card for guests to bring with them and present at the shower. We gave the Momma-to-be a wooden rustic growth chart with party favors of Large Mammoth Sunflower seeds which said “Watch me grow”. We also gave the soon-to-be parents a wooden sign that said “For this child, I prayed” (This baby is truly a blessing. Mike actually prayed in church to have the baby, one month before Jaci found out she was pregnant). We displayed simple desserts such as chocolate covered pretzels, rice crispy hearts, caramel popcorn and donut holes to compliment the three cakes. Our local baker (Misty’s Cakery) made two small cakes (one gluten free) and a two tiered for the center cake, chocolate and vanilla flavored, in a white textured icing. We then added embelishments of linen ribbons, fresh flowers and printable cake toppers to match our decor just perfectly. We displayed our bar outside and served Southern BBQ from our favorite local restuarant. With everyone’s efforts the shower turned out exactly how we envisioned without missing one single detail. Thank you girls for everything you did to make this special event happen – I could not have done it without you!!!
