An Easter Brunch is a fun way to squeeze in an early Easter meal before the days festivities of Easter baskets and egg hunts begins! Natalie of Fern & Maple Events is sharing with us an absolutely adorable Easter Brunch she prepared and styled using our spring Easter Has Sprung Collection. The way that Natalie uses the designs is so unique compared to how we have previously seen this collection styled. It just goes to show that the final look of our collections are as unique as each stylists vision!
Hi, I’m Natalie from Fern & Maple Events. I’ve loved & used Anders Ruff for years, since I found them and used their designs for my son’s bowling party. They always have fun, unique graphics and this sweet “Easter has Sprung” is no exception. I love the pastel coloring and as the ladies kindly gave me the set to use, I was inspired to create a darling wee brunch for my daughter Parker and her best friend Riley Grace.
Party Idea:
I’ve been itching to reuse some gorgeous pale pink tulle poms by Fizzy Party and had just bought some egg shell blue & pink dress up table boxes on my latest (and definitely not last) run to Ikea. So I was drawn to the baby blue & pink within the design set. The pink is a gingham
and the blue a diagonal design gingham, as well as with polka dots. Anders Ruff have matched each pattern with sweet pastel eggs, bunnies & chicks, so in true Easter fashion I wanted to bring these elements into the decor. So soft pastels became the theme for this best friend’s brunch.
Decorations:
The décor was further inspired by the girls love of playing dress up. They love to play everything from superhero, princess, doctor, animal etc. Today it was grand old ladies – we even gave them dress up names “Martha & Nancy” lol. This made me think pearls, gloves, masks, pink frothiness and furs.
Some of my favorite details from this pastel inspired best friends brunch:
– Tulle poms in straws as candy floss sticks
– Pretty pink birds’ nests with pearl trim for place names
– Dress up accessories at the girl’s place settings, pearls, gloves & bunny glasses on a stick
– Dressed up bunnies, all bunnies on the table had a string of pearls to match the girls
– A nest of bubble “eggs”
– Miniature trees growing chocolate eggs
– Simple white chocolate bunnies as favors to highlight the gorgeous tags
– A liberty fabric heart over the table, these besties love each other to bits!
DIY:
Prior to the party I did a little bit of DIY to keep some of the items I’d found in the pastel theme. I used spray paint to make the wooden dress up bunny masks baby blue and turn the little birds’ nests baby pink. I then “glammed up” items and took stick on pearls and added them to the masks, for a little bling. I used the same pearls on the display boxes and the stick on bunnies I had added to the boxes. I used the paper sheets Anders Ruff provides (plain sheets of the designs) and cut a piece to fit a white frame. I used stick on pink glitter letters to spell out Happy Easter. I used these same stickers on plain white eggs as a simple monogram place setting for the girls, added pearls – very fancy! Finally, a large paper umbrella to keep the sun off our ladies and a piece of floral wrapping paper under the cakes as a table runner, this is a really economical option and also means less washing up! And the kids can draw on it if they are so inclined.
Flowers:
I love fresh flowers for brunch so I grabbed a gorgeous set of wild looking flowers and used a water jug as a vase, adding an Easter message & a pom for decoration. I also added simple hydrangeas to a pink Easter basket and then added some fake stems directly on the table to bring a touch of green to the “egg coupe”! The egg coupe housed the “bubble” eggs. I simply love the idea of bubble labels and this set came with the perfect labels. A sweet surprise for the girls when they took a peek at the eggs resting in the grass and something to entertain them outside.
Food:
I really wanted to keep the food simple, the girls would be getting excited and wanting to play dress up so it didn’t need to be elaborate just enough to look & feel like “brunch” and be very pretty! So I bought a classic pink princess cake from our local supermarket & made a burrowing bunny on top of the cake with silver pipe cleaners for ears and one of the poms as a tail. I also added bunny paws and tails to the cupcakes (a pack of which I found at Michaels). Straws & poms were added to balls of candy floss so the girls could pick them up and eat them off the sticks. Simple tea party sandwiches, no crusts! And a few more sweets, jelly belly’s, peeps and I added chocolate eggs to little topiary trees which they thoroughly enjoyed…they almost believed that they grow on trees!
Conclusion:
We picked the girls up from school and surprised them with their pretty pink & blue brunch and they loved it! Parker had left in the morning with not a sign of the party and came home to a yummy brunch and cake. Lots of food and excited role play ensued. At the end of the party we took them out complete with furs and gloves to look at the flowers and wander hand in hand round the garden. What a lovely afternoon tea for “Martha & Nancy”.
