The nostalgia of catching fireflies in the warm summer evenings is enough to make any Firefly Party shine. However, one of our super talented clients, Courtney Portner, takes this Summer Nights Lights party way beyond a feeling of fond memories. Courtney has shared with us other great parties she has styled; like a Surf/Shark Party, a Fiesta Party, and a sweet Bedtime Stories party. Like those, this Firefly Party is filled with amazing themed decorations, desserts, and fun! In addition to beautifully executing a firefly theme, Courtney ties in some horse touches as well.
What we love about this party:
– The horse fondant toppers
– The firefly jars topped with a horse
– The fondant toppers on the cake
Other Summer Themed Parties:
– Outdoor Movie Night
– Flamingo Party
– Glamping
Told by Courntey: Twinkling fireflies and sweet horses, two of my daughter’s loves, were the theme of her 7th Birthday Party “Summer Night Lights” – inspired by Michael Miller’s Wee Wander fabric.
Fireflies and horses adorned the dessert table including fondant hobby horses, cake pops with fireflies resting on them and a cake featuring a little girl holding a fire fly jar next to her beloved horse. Cookies reflected the various critters and children shown in the fabric along with being cut as mason jars monogrammed with the letter “A.”
Mason jars – even in a flattened shape – were featured throughout the party – holding various desserts or paper versions decorated the back of chairs. Twinkling light mason jars shimmered above the party table that was centered with jars full of smaller hobby horses. Various hair accessories made from the fabric served as napkin rings, milk jar embellishments and coordinating hair clips accented the party hats and place cards.
The children enjoyed making fire fly bugs – complete with a glow stick, threading necklaces with beads made from Miller’s fabric and even painting fire fly jars topped with horses. They also competed in hobby horse races, went on a fire fly hunt – collecting mini finger lights in backpacks sewn from the party’s themed fabric. They even followed a horse’s shoes – outfitted with various clues – to find a treasure bowl full of horses. The ultimate prize was taking home fire fly shaped cookies contained in a whimsical blue mason jar.
