AR Workshop Headquarters

Summertime at AR Workshop is always exciting, and this summer was no exception. June marked the 3-year anniversary of the founding of our flagship location at 322 Main Street in Pineville. And while we have definitely been celebrating that accomplishment and the hard work invested in growing our boutique DIY studio from 1 location to over 140 locations (across 31 states) during that time, we are also celebrating the thrill of moving into our new AR Workshop headquarters!

We love specializing in hands-on DIY workshops which help people around the country create trendy, custom home decor. With the rapid growth of the AR Workshop franchise over the last 3 years, we realized we were overdue in providing an office space for the incredible leadership team working behind the scenes to keep the franchise running and moving in the right direction. If you think we are excited to help others get their DIY on for their own spaces, you can only imagine how excited we were to get our DIY on in our own office space! There is a lot of work involved in setting up a new office! We did a lot of moving and rearranging of furniture to get things just perfect, and we learned a few tips along the way to share with you regarding protecting your surfaces! Check out the photos of our new headquarters and read our tips so you are ready for your next home makeover!

Keeping the same vibe as our flagship location–AR Workshop Pineville (above), was important to us as we designed our new office setting. Our Pineville location has been the meeting place for many new franchise owner trainings, which means our workshop furniture has been moved around so much! We were thrilled to find an office space conveniently located across the street from the workshop.

Check out the “before” photo of the new office space. The walls were already painted a shade of our signature grey–just like the shade used in all of our franchised locations.

how to decorate an office

The first step in renovating our new headquarters was to get the floors finished correctly. We chose to use an amazing plank vinyl wood flooring that looks just as good as real wood! With so many people coming in and out of the office space, we knew our choice needed to be able to handle the wear and tear well and still look amazing! We love how the floors turned out! Our next dilemma was to decide how how to protect those floors!? Read on…

In addition to installing new floors, we also installed a few white shiplap accent walls. They were a great choice to brighten up the space and add some texture. We also opted for barn doors. You won’t believe how adorable they turned out!

If you are obsessed with fresh, modern farmhouse details like we are, we think you’ll love how the barndoors turned out for our office too.

Since AR Workshop is all about DIY, Maureen and Libby were determined to build the farmhouse table–to be used in the new awesome conference room–themselves.

Since there was sure to be a lot of furniture rearranging go on in this new office space, protecting the base of the feet of all of the worktables was paramount! Nobody wants scratches on new flooring! Softtouch felt pads by Waxman were used. They come in a variety of sizes and are so easy to apply (they are self-adhesive on one side). They are virtually unnoticeable when applied. We use these in a lot of our DIY classes (for our lazy susans, centerpiece boxes and more) so we stocked up at Lowes.com and put them to full use.

Our adorable DIY centerpiece boxes were a perfect choice for decorating our farmhouse table. To protect the new tabletop, some of the Waxman Softtouch products were attached to the base of the centerpieces. (Get your own at lowes.com)

Since there are multiple desks in our wide open space, Softtouch felt pads were added to the bottom of each desk leg as well. This allows us the option to easily rearrange the space for trainings with no worry of damaging the floors!

Do you like our matching pencil organizers at each of our desks? We love them–cute and functional!

office accessories

We created a cozy nook that features our tufted Anthropologie couch and plenty of fluffy pillows.

We used the Super Sliders from Lowes on the bottom of our heavy couch. They are heavy duty enough to support the weight of the couch, but make moving the couch a breeze! When it comes time to rearrange, we can do it on ourselves! What a relief to not have to worry about getting scratches on the floor because the bottom of the couch is protected.

While we may have gone a little overboard adding these Waxman Super Sliders and Softtouch protectors to everything in our new office space, it’s simply because we are so paranoid to scratch our new floors.  We now have a designated drawer in our office with all different sizes and shapes of Sliders and Protectors because we are growing so fast and adding furniture and accessories and don’t ever want to be without. The team agrees!

We didn’t forget about the AR pets! Our AR Workshop dog beds definitely needed some Softtouch pads under them! The dogs are constantly jumping in the beds, and if they aren’t moving them, we are! The pads make moving the beds around at our AR Workshop headquarters so much easier!

The pups look pretty happy, don’t you agree?!
