Ruff Draft: Candy Cane Lollipop Ornaments

Each year, during the Christmas season, my girls want to do holiday crafts with me.  I love spending time doing something that will give a fresh take to our Christmas decor, and we have the perfect project that your kids can make too!

We created these  hand-made, kid friendly, candy cane lollipops for our newest Christmas collection, The North Pole Christmas Holiday Printable Collection.

Supplies needed:

1. Red & white pipe cleaners

2. Lollipop sticks

3.  Hot glue gun

4. Printed and cut Party Flag from The North Pole Christmas Holiday Printable Collection

5. Ribbon of your choice

6. Pencil for twisting pipe cleaner

————————————————————————————–

First you will need to twirl your pipe cleaner around a pencil to form the lollipop shape.

As you do you this, use a hot glue gun, and put little dabs of glue between each swirl to hold the shape together (you don’t need much – just enough to keep the shape).

Once you seal your lollipop circle, put a dab of glue on the back of it to adhere the lollipop stick.

When the glue is set, you can then add a printable party flag to the stick for a simple embellishment.  A little frill, but no fuss!

Last, add a ribbon of your choice through the pipe cleaner to hang your lollipop ornament.  We used red & white twine, from the Twinery…. it matches just too perfectly!

This project is super simple, and your kids will love creating these decorative treats.   These would also be great package toppers to your Christmas gifts!  Create a small kid’s tree with them, or even string them together for garland.
