This Hot Air Balloon Baby Shower was sent to us from Zelda Olvier-Miles, of Party Like Zelda!  Below she shares all the great details on this adorable Up, Up, and Away Baby Adventure!

Well, hello party people! I, Zelda of Party Like Zelda, am super excited to share an intimate spring baby shower I styled for a friend welcoming a second child to the family. This afternoon gathering was inspired by hot air balloon adventures and picnics.

Some of my favorite details from this party are:
— The grass wall backdrop
— The custom chocolate Rice Krispy Treats
— The custom designed tissue tassel garland

Decorating for our small shower was a bit challenging because the entire day was overcast and misty. Glad we had a backup plan — the screened porch, less square footage but it worked out perfectly. And we stayed dry!

To make the space festive, we started with the backdrop for the dessert table. My husband stapled an outdoor grass rug from Lowe’s to the framing and suspended faux wisteria vines across the front. The dark green made my ivory tablecloths dazzle. But that wasn’t enough. To add pops of color I dressed the front of the table with teal, pink, lime green and baby blue tissue tassel garland from Glitter Girlz Designs. I used miniature white cake stands for the delicious cookies — peanut butter and chocolate chip — and a larger one for the miniature cupcakes. All of which came from Margaret’s Bakery.  I love how the beautiful lavender chocolate covered Rice Krispy Treat pops from Sassy’s Sweets balanced the color palette.

I wanted the ladies to feel like they were on a picnic, so instead of a buffet table, I packed our lite fare in disposable food boxes. Lunch consisted of pasta salad, pimento cheese sandwiches and fresh fruit. Each guest also got a milk bottle filled with ginger lemonade. It was the perfect bubbly complement to the basket of fresh strawberries that anchored the table. On either side of the basket, I created a simple hot
air balloon arrangement of hydrangea and alstroemeria in paper berry boxes by Recollections that I picked up at Michael’s.

Since it was such a small group, I did things a little differently. As guests arrived, they were treated to a popcorn box filled with gourmet caramel popcorn. The patterned boxes were arranged on the mantle which also was adorned with a tissue tassel from Glitter Girlz Designs.

A special thanks to my party assistants, my daughter and husband, for helping get everything moved and setup. And to Anders Ruff Custom Designs for their Easter Has Sprung Collection.
