Mother’s Day is right around the corner and planning a mother’s day brunch is such a special tradition for my family. This year, Adria and I hosted a VERY special Mother’s Day brunch for a dear friend (who is a mommy-to-be!), her mom and our mommy friends! We wanted to host a baby shower and decided that it was a great idea to do a mother’s day and mom-to-be baby shower brunch!
Today, we are sharing some fabulous DIY ideas using American Greetings and Dove Products:
– DIY Wrapping Paper Cupcake Wrappers
– DIY Chocolate Favor Bag Toppers
– DIY Tissue Paper Wooden Bangle Bracelet for Kids
Talia is due with her baby boy any day, and Annie has been such a wonderful mother to Talia… we just love honoring the people we love!
When we were planning the baby shower, we decided to do a couple fun crafts using our favorite American Greetings products from Walmart. They had the perfect aqua color to tie into our baby shower decor! We also loved the Mother’s Day Card selection that they had at Walmart and it was great to set out the cards for people to read!

We found these fabulous products in this fun and colorful party aisle in Walmart.
Our first craft was to create yummy vanilla cupcakes adorned with sparkly DIY cupcake wrappers. Our friends and our guests of honor, Annie and Talia, both love cupcakes and we wanted to dress them up for the theme! We fell in LOVE with this gorgeous silver sparkle wrapping paper from American Greetings and decided to make a cupcake wrapper for the cupcakes.
It is SO easy to make your own wrapping paper cupcake wrappers.
Here are the instructions:
MATERIALS:
– Printable Cupcake Wrapper Template (download here)
– Roll of American Greetings Wrapping Paper- Regular Cupcakes
– Scissors
– Tape
– Printable Party Flags (or cut flags from wrapping paper strips)
– Optional: Dove Chocolate Covered Blueberries (to top the cupcakes!)
STEP 1: Download and print the cupcake wrapper template.
STEP 2: Place it on the backside of the wrapping paper and adhere to the wrapping paper to hold it in place.
STEP 3: Cut through both the template and the wrapping paper to create the wrapper shape.
STEP 4: Tape or glue the wrapping paper to the template to give it extra thickness.
STEP 5: Wrap the cupcake and adhere shut with tape.
Don’t the finished cupcakes look so cute!? We topped them with a flag and a Dove Chocolate Covered Blueberry.
Of course we needed favors for the baby shower, and we wanted a sweet send-off for the moms and mom-to-be! We bought these Dove Chocolates at Walmart and decided to tie in the silver wrapping paper again to package them in a cute to-go bag. This was SO simple!
INSTRUCTIONS:
MATERIALS:
– American Greetings Wrapping Paper Roll
– Dove Promise Chocolates
– Cellophane Bags
– Scissors
– Tape
– American Greetings Ribbon
– Printable tag (from our collection here!)
STEP 1: Fill your cellophane bag with Dove Promise Chocolates
STEP 2: Cut a piece of wrapping paper the same width as the cellophane bag and about 4″ tall. Fold it over the cellophane bag and tape it shut.
STEP 3: Adhere ribbon around the bag and tape the ribbon shut on the back.
STEP 4: Add printable label to the front (get the printable tag here)
We had a display of the gifts and cards on a table on the side of the room. I loved how the colors popped!
One other DIY project we did for the Mom and Mom-to-be brunch was great for our kids to get involved in. We knew the Breakfast at Tiffany’s themed brunch tied in great with jewelry and we wanted the kids to make the moms a special bracelet. These bangles were SO much fun to make!
MATERIALS:
– American Greetings Tissue Paper
– Modge Podge glue
– Foam Brush
– Wooden Popsicle Sticks
– Round glass jars & Saucepan with boiling water
STEP 1: Boil some water and place the wooden popsicle sticks in the boiling water. Turn down the stove and let simmer in water for 15 minutes to make them malleable.
STEP 2: Once 15 minutes is up, carefully bend the wood into a curve shape and place in the glass jars overnight to dry. Be sure to make a few extras because some may split as you are bending them.
Note: I had to boil mine about 5 minutes longer to make more malleable.
STEP 4: After 24 hours, remove the wooden bangles from the jar.
STEP 5: Use American Greetings Tissue paper squares cut into pieces and modge podge around the entire popsicle stick bracelet.
STEP 6: Once coated, be sure to add extra layers of modge podge on top and smooth the surface.
STEP 7: Once all coated, let dry for several hours
STEP 8: Have the kids write a nice note on the inside of the bangle for mom! She will love it!
STEP 9: Package the bracelet in an adorable box with silver American Greetings Wrapping Paper and White ribbon and a sparkly gift enclosure card.
We think this would make the most beautiful Mother’s Day Brunch for you and the women in your lives!
