A Modern Space Rocket Ship Birthday Party

Xiomara of A Styled Fete always impresses us with her styling. Remember we shared her son’s choo choo train goes to the farm party last year as well as her daughter’s whimsical ombre princess party?  Oh, and how can you forget the neon bridal shower she styled last year!?

Well, this time, Xio had a challenge on her hands but still succeeded in impressing us!  She styled a 3rd birthday party for her son in their temporary apartment (she is building a home!) and even with limited time and supplies, the rocket themed party turned out adorable! This just goes to show that a few dramatic elements such as fabrics and printables, you can pull together an impressive and coordinated party!

The cutest part about this is that Xiomara did a “Love you to the moon and back” theme incorporating stars and rockets – everything little boys love and even sweeter!

I adore the backdrop with the chalkboard accent, and the geometric hanging garland!

We altered our Rocket Ship Birthday Party printable collection to reflect the modern and geometric pattern and colors that Xio wanted to use for her theme color palette.

I love the cake and how simple but adorable it is.  It would be so simple to embellish a $10 plain white Target Cake and get the same look Xio did here.  Xio added a matted rocket ship from our printable collection to the top of the cake as well as some shooting stars and it looks precious!

I also love how Xio incorporated black and white stripes in not only the printables and the fabrics, but also in the embellishments like the adorable twine added to the favors and drink wraps.  (We love The Twinery!)  The printable drink wrap adds the graphic and bold color touch to the drinks.

The banner hung on an angle looks so cute against the striped backdrop.  What a cute area to take pics of the kiddos!

Here are some more party details, as told by Xiomara herself….

Hello, just wanted to stop by to share with you my son’s third birthday party.  We went with a ” I love you to the Moon and Back” party theme since he is currently obsessed with rockets and outer space. The fabulous girls at Anders Ruff designed all the paper products and I think it turned out adorable!
It was a very small party in our tiny apartment, with just the grandparents and us but it was still a lot of fun. Even though I debated whether to have an actual dessert table and decorations at first, I am so glad I did it. He really loved seeing everything and said ” wow, that’s amazing, mom, that’s cool”.  Yeah, he is even talking like a big boy now. That’s all I needed to hear; at the end of the day, I made all of this for HIM. You see, I may be a girly girl who loves pink, sparkles and ruffles but having this little man has changed my life. Who would’ve thought I would be playing pirate and cars and loving every second of  it? But I do.

I decided to order a cake from our local grocery store and spruce it up a bit. I glittered some wooden stars and glued some dowels to simulate shooting stars. I also printed an extra poster from my printables to cut the rocket for the cake.  It was super simple and I think it turned out pretty cute.

One of William’s favorite items of the party were the rockets and planets lollipops.I filled some apothecary jars with Trix cereal (Asteroids) and Bouncy balls ( Bouncy Planets).

One of my favorite elements of the table was the chalkboard backdrop! I am in love with chalkboards these days and I thought it would be super fun to draw some stars simulating the “outer space”. I also think it makes the shapes garland I made really pop. I will probably be using the giant chalkboard at our playroom in our new house. I am sure the kids will love it!

Since, like I said, the apartment is pretty small I wanted to have a designated area for photos. I used some Ikea fabric to cover a wall and decorated with clear balloons. This was my first time using them and I loved them! They are a stylish alternative to regular colored balloons. You must give them a try on your next party. William really loved playing with the giant three while I snapped a couple of pics, I think they were both the same size!”

Thanks for sharing the details, Xio!  Congrats on an adorable Geometric Modern Rocket Ship party, Xiomara! William is a lucky boy!  We can’t wait to see what you come up with next.

  1. What great ideas! Love that simple everyday items (Trix & donut holes) that you could find at your local grocery store or Target were used to create such a fantastic party. Sometimes I get carried away planning a party using etsy finds. This is a wonderful reminder that sometimes the best ideas are just under my nose.

  2. Love the chalkboard and garland! Very cute! Where did you get the small stands that the milk bottles are on?
