In just a few more days, my favorite weekend is approaching – Mother’s Day {Weekend}… yes, I insist on an entire weekend all about me and my favorite moms! If you are hosting this weekend, or need a few last minute gift ideas, etc., we want to show you decorating with Herbs for Mother’s Day. It is simple and inexpensive, yet useful for anyone who loves to cook. Along with that, we are sharing with some adorable chalkboard style free printable labels you can use throughout your home for this event or for favor gifts.
(Don’t forget to check out the new Preppy Mother’s Day Printables that Maureen posted earlier this week, too!)
The herbs labels can be used to adhere to pots, wooden sticks or even favor tags. We included several herb names to give you a variety to choose from and you can use your 2″ circle punch to cut them out or trim with scissors. Set a perfect Mother’s Day brunch table or pass out as gifts.
Supplies needed:
1. FREE PRINTABLE HERB LABELS (printed and cut out)
2. Live herbs or herb seed packets
3. Biodegradable Cowpots (for live herbs)
4. Tape (or glue)
5. 2″ circular craft punch
6. Craft paper/twine – for herb seed packets
Live Herb Favors
Repot store bought herbs into biodegradable Cowpots. (I was able to take one plant and divide into two containers)
Glue appropriate herb label to each cowpot (or tape on, if you don’t want it to be permanent)
Sit along place setting – and allow you guests to take home and plant directly into the ground. *Bonus, no pot removal needed – they are biodegradable
Garden Sticks
Tape herb labels to wooden skewers or lollipop sticks. Stick out of any indoor container for embellishment…. laminate them and use in the garden too!
Favor Tags
Wrap your favorite herb seeds in craft paper and tie on herb names with a tag indicating what it is. I used an fresh herb garnish to dress up the packet. You can also go a step further and create a little seed starter kit.
