Children are obsessed with Halloween! Throwing a Halloween party for kids can be a lot of fun! We are sharing 4 tips that will help you in the planning process. From sending out invitations, to concocting creative ideas for Halloween decorations, to planning the kinds of food to serve and the party activities to engage guests in, we will walk you through the process of throwing a Halloween party for children, from start to finish.
First, buy or make “spooktacular” Halloween invitations. The cooler the invitation, the more excitement that is created for your Halloween party and the more likely that guests are to attend! Be sure to include all of the important party details, including date, location, start & end times, plus whether costumes are encouraged. We have a variety of Halloween invitations in our shop here.
Next, make plans for Halloween decorations. Creating the proper Halloween party atmosphere will involve transforming your home or chosen venue by rounding up some cute and/or spooky decorations. These items do not have to be costly. Dollar and thrift stores often have inexpensive items like themed party plates, napkins and cups, tablecloths, spider webs, pumpkins, faux rodents, crows and bats. Add a few jack-o-lanterns by using a pumpkin carving stencil to create a more detailed carving. We also sell printable party decorations in our shop! You can shop our printable Halloween party decoration collections here.
A Halloween party calls for creative Halloween finger foods, appetizers and desserts, plus candy! The scarier the food names, the better! Brainstorm ways that you can transform everyday food into something a little spooky. For example, spaghetti with red sauce is now “bloody worms” or “bloody brains”. Rice Krispy Treats can be colored orange, cut into pumpkin shapes with a cookie cutter and embellished with piped frosting. Be sure to have disposable plates, cups and napkins to coordinate with the Halloween party theme. You can visit our roundup of 7 FaBOOlous Halloween Party Recipes here, for ideas.
Halloween party activities don’t have to be difficult to plan. Children love playing games, participating in costume parades, cupcake walks, and coloring contests. If you’d like to include a little crafting, how about painting or carving pumpkins? End the night with a costume contest and award prizes! We have printable Halloween activities and games in our shop here.
With these 4 tips in mind, you are set to begin plans on your own Halloween party for kids! We dare you to create something Spooktacular!
