Free Printable: DIY Bag Tag Template – Great for Back To School!

If you are like us, your kids have several backpacks and bags for school 😉 (I accessorize my BOYS, even haha!). I am always scrambling to find a tag to put on their lunch box, gym bag, backpack, etc. That was until I started making luggage tags for party favor tags! I’m always trying to think of favors that will not get tossed the day after the party. Luggage tags did the trick! Parents love them because they can reuse them and they are CUTE! (What better than a cute, useful, favor!?)

We put together 8 Do-It-Yourself Templates for bag tags/personalized labels that are great for back to school. You can think outside the box, too!
These could be printed on full sheets of label paper and used to label folders/binders, lunch bag stickers or anything else! You can even laminate for a permanent luggage tag using this laminator.

We want to start offering personal use printable graphic design templates for our fabulous followers. Are you excited!? (Make sure you SUBSCRIBE to our monthly newsletter, too! (For free / personal exclusive designs that we don’t post anywhere else!)

GIRLS
We wanted to design something that would match a large variety of bags/lunchboxes. We were inspired by Pottery Barn Kids current line and figured a majority of people buy sweet little bags and lunchboxes from there.

Motifs: Owls and butterflies
Patterns: Ditzy dial dot pattern, polkadot and chevron (on the backside as well)
Colors: Sage green/Pink combo & hot pink w/ brown.
These should hopefully appeal to most of your little girls!

Here is what the templates look like (cute pattern on the back when you fold it!):

BOYS
Even though Lego and Star Wars are what boys seem to love, we stay away from characters as much as possible (We like to think outside the box!)

Motifs: Retro Cars and Monkies
Patterns: Checkerboard, chevron, stripe and argyle (for the prep in me!)
Colors: Blues/green combo, red/aqua/brown combo
These should hopefully appeal to most of your little boys!

Here is what the boy templates look like (see, when you fold it, the backside has the cute pattern on it!):

For my son, heading off to preschool for the first time (more sniffs) probably the cars, although (and I can’t believe I am going to write this about such a fantastic, free item) a pirate theme would have been perfect with his backpack, but he will love the cars. Thanks!

  62. This is great. I printed out on white paper the contents that we keep in the bag for the nursery workers at church along with our cell phone numbers. After trimming and adding the info, I used regular postal packing tape to “laminate” it with some pretty cording that I have in my sewing kit. Bonus–the content list helps dad to know what to pack.
