The leaves are starting to change here in the Carolinas along with acorns falling on the ground.  Now is the perfect time to make this simple DIY burlap acorn craft!  This is a new twist and a great accessory to the burlap pumpkins that are the latest trend. The natural element of using real acorns and a twig stem make them one of a kind! You only need a few supplies and little time to make these adorable burlap acorns.

Supplies needed:
Burlap Roll (can be found at craft stores)
Paper Mache Eggs (can be found at craft stores)

Hot Glue
Twig for Acorn Stem

Making Burlap Acorns with real acorn shells

Directions:
1. Cut an overized square piece of burlap
2. Glue the bottom of the paper mache egg (smallest end of egg) to the center of the burlap square.
3. Pull each corner of the burlap, up to the top of the egg (gluing each side as you do so), to cover egg.
4. As you pull fabric up, you will need to make folds in the fabric to form around the egg shape – I glued each fold as I gathered the fabric to keep it in place
5. Once you reach the top, cut off fabric and glue it down along the top edge.  (it’s ok if there is a little egg not covered perfectly because the acorn tops will cover it.
6. Start gluing first row of acorn tops around top edge (I started mine about 1/8 – 1/4 of the way down)
7. Add second row of acorn tops – repeat until the entire top is covered with exception of the very center point.

Gluing Acorn Tops to burlap8. At the center top, glue on a small twig and then fill in space with acorn tops so it is completely covered.
9. Remove glue strands and extra glue globs that are left on the acorns for final touch-ups and then this adorable craft is complete!
