Ruff Draft: Coffee Filter Snowflake Banner

I am back from my week-long trip to Ohio!  Thanksgiving was wildly fun and full of laughs with our family & friends back up north!  Now that I have gained 10 pounds from the fabulous home-cooked meals, it’s time to get ready for Christmas.  (I’m only eating salads this week) ha!

We wanted to share with you how to make snowflakes out of coffee filters.  They are the perfect size to use for banner embellishments or even just to create your own snowflakes.

We used them to create our Cookie Exchange Banner, from our newest Christmas collection, The North Pole Christmas Holiday Printable Collection

Dessert Table

Supplies needed:

1. White coffee filters

2. The North Pole Christmas Holiday Printable Collection (printed & cut circular banner letters)

3.  Scissors

4. Adhesive (glue or tape – we used glue dots)

First you need to take you coffee filter and fold in half, then fold in half, then fold in half again, until it is as small as you can make it.

Next, you will need take your circular banner letter (lay flat on table), and lay the point of the coffee filter in the center of the letter.  (You need to determine how long you want your snowflake)

Then you will make your cut so that about 3/4″-1″ will be exposed (once opened).

Cut the end (however you like – we made very pointed ends).  Also make small cuts into the edges below the top cut… just like you would with a normal snowflake.

Keep in mind, that you only need to make a few cuts at top because only 3/4″ – 1″ will actually be exposed once assembled.

Once cuts are made, glue or tape the back of the circular letter to the opened snowflake and adhere together.  No snowflakes are alike – so don’t worry how pointed your ends are or how similar the tiny cuts are… they should all be slightly different.

Once you have all your letters finished, string together through the tiny snowflake holes with white ribbon and hang.

Here is a (sneak-peak) out-take from our Cookie Exchange baking party!
