Ever since our spunky designer Adria (Ruff) announced that her and her sister Laura Lamascola were coming out with a new book series, Aidey Comet, I have been chomping at the bit to get my hands on a copy. Reviews reference it’s comical content and vibrant pictures and not a one of them was off the mark – it is all that and then some! This week we are giving away a signed copy of Aidey Comet: I Like to Write and a page of coordinating party logos (a fun addition to what would be a spectacular class book read)!
I am so excited for some behind the scenes information I am about to reveal about Aidey Comet and his pals. It honestly makes the book that much funnier and Aidey and his yellow gingham rain boots all the more irresistible. So, without further ado I am officially introducing you to 6 degrees of Aidey Comet (the new social game for those to young to know Kevin Bacon):
- The name Aidey Comet is the name that Adria’s oldest daughter, Brynne, gave to her Baby Dolls imaginary boyfriend/husband when she was little.
- Aidey’s orange shirt and green pants was actually borrowed from Adria’s husbands imaginary childhood friend, Randy (who thankfully no longer needs them).
- Randy then became the name given to Aidey’s wilted flower.
- Stinky the fish was a real pet fish of theirs (won at a carnival) that no one really wanted and was eventually passed around as a joke. So Laura and Adria decided to put Aidey’s fish, Stinky, in a plastic bag so he too could travel with ease. I guess it’s easier than a leash!
- You will notice that Ugmar the chameleon is never in his cage….yes, there was also a pet lizard they had who you guessed it, was never in his cage.
- Where does writing on the wall come from you might ask: Adria, Laura, and their brother and sister all wrote on the walls, bless their poor mothers heart (and Stinky’s too, poor Stinky)!!
That is all I was privy to this time, but when their next book comes out about Aidey trying to make Randy “not blue” anymore I’ll dig a bit deeper. I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg!
CONGRATULATIONS Jeri Watson! We selected your name as the winner of the signed Aidey Comet book!
