We hope you had an amazing and memorable Christmas this week! Our families are so blessed and had an absolutely wonderful last two days.
We are excited to move on to next week’s holiday… NEW YEARS! We wanted to show you a fun, kid-friendly drink to celebrate with all your little ones on New Year’s Eve. I don’t know about you, but my favorite child-hood drink was the classic “Shirley Temple”. My grandfather used to make the most perfect Shirley Temple kiddie cocktails when we would have any sort of party at their house. It was so special to me and made me feel included in all the grown-up activities. He always put extra cherries in it… and made sure my siblings and my cousins had a drink as we would toast together with a big Italian “Cheers”! I am sharing today, his simple recipe… with a little twist for good measure! I found a recipe online that used Pop Rocks to line the glass rim… what a perfect way to pop into the new year!
Ingredients:
Ginger ale
Grenadine
Maraschino cherries
Pop Rocks
New Year’s Printables
Directions:
1. Take the rim of your glass and run a cherry around it – to make it sticky
2. Dip your glass in strawberry Pop Rocks (they crack a little when you do it, which is kind of funny!)
3. Add 1 tablespoon of grenadine to the glass
4. Fill the rest of the glass with ginger ale (add ice if needed)
5. Add a skewer of cherries
6. Top it off with a straw and printable party flag
Snap… crackle… pop into 2014 with this festive drink!
