The Savvy Socialista is a company that helps businesses grow through social media marketing, web design, branding, and graphic design services. The owner, Jami Lindberg, has given us a little Pinterest 101 lesson. Sure, we all know how to pin and the addiction of it that creates late nights and loss of productivity at work, but Jami tells us how to make it work for us. So, the next time your boss brings up your pinning addiction, you’ll have some ammo and can just let him/her know “you’re growing their business!”
I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. I’ll admit it….it’s FABULOUS! I can pretty much find anything I need to find, from shoes to my recipe for dinner! I use it consistently for business, not only mine but my clients. But the hate side….I hate that I’m loosing sleep because I simply can not stop pinning, once I’ve started! Please tell me I’m not the only one! By now, pretty much everyone knows about Pinterest and what a great resource it is for…well, everything. And let’s not even talk about how addicting it is! Let’s look into it a bit further…
Pinterest is essentially a visual marketing tool. There are a number of sites and platforms that serve as social bookmarking tools, but Pinterest has taken it to another level that appeals to some more basic human needs: the ability to browse content in a minimalist, visual way and the notion that when we encounter strangers (either online or offline), we make a connection through a common interest and the sharing of that interest. Enter Pinterest’s solution: Boards. Users create their own boards around anything that they’re passionate about, and Pinterest gives a limited number of categories into which your boards can fit. I can build a board to share fabulous party ideas, funny quotes all the way to showcasing the logos and websites my biz has created!
So many of us love to share our little one’s birthday parties. We’ve worked so hard on the printables, decor and food…we’ve hired a photographer and gone all out and by gosh, we want people to see it! Again….Pinterest is the answer! Upload your fabulous party pics and allow people to gaze on the perfect party!
Do you own your own biz and wondering, how Pinterest could further it? I promise you, the brands that will be successful are the ones that utilize Pinterest to it’s full ability. The potential for people to see your product/service is great, just keep in mind…it’s not all about you! Spread the love and make sure your pinning others work. Allow Pinterest to let your future clients know who you are by pinning other things you like! Of course, you’ll want to use Pinterest to drive sales – particularly if you’re in the e-commerce business so yes, for sure post all of your product on different boards!
