We are so excited to showcase Ikea Charlotte Store today in our most recent Outdoor Movie Night birthday party. If you missed our full party post, you can see it here – we had an amazing collaboration with Jelly Belly, our Ikea Charlotte Store and Great Stitch to create this vibrant teen theme. We want to show you how we tranformed Ikea’s furniture in the perfect Outdoor Movie night, so you can do it too!
We transformed this basic kitchen cart into a candy shop cart by adding a few DIY elements. First we added white poles from behind to hang banners and signs. Next we added paper wrapped blocks to make “shelves” for candy jars. Last we sat a vintage wagon wheel in front of the cart to give it that traditional candy cart look.
White Table (Klimpen/Finnvard Table)
We took this unique drafting table/desk and turned it into our popcorn bar. We displayed a backdrop (with mounted poles behind it) to create a colorful scene and layered various baskets and garlands for a bold effect. We also displayed Ikea lanterns and the tissue fringe garlands were made from Ikea tissue paper.
These classic beach chairs were perfect for movie seating. We dressed them up with bold pillows and blankets from Great Stitch. We sat end tables inbetween for drinks as well.
This retro night stand was just the table we needed for our projector. We sat a movie sign on it at the beginning of the night and when it was movie time, the table was the perfect height for our projector.
We also used wrapping paper and tissue from Ikea’s Paper Shop! We wrapped the presents in their striped and solid papers and created tissue poms for with their printed tissue papers. We displayed Ikea lanterns for night-time lighting.
The tissue scalloped garlands were also made from Ikea tissue paper – we had so much fun crafting with their adorable printed tissue papers.
We hope you enjoyed seeing how we transformed Ikea products into a perfect Outdoor Movie Night! Thank you Ikea Charlotte Store – we couldn’t have done it without your amazing products!!!

What type of projector do you use?
Adorable! Thank you for sharing this! I have the same Ikea kitchen cart and am wondering what kind of white poles you used, and how you attached them to the back of the car?
Thank you!
Hi there! We actually just used duct tape on the backside 😉 It was dowel rods we painted white 😉
