Are you getting the winter blues and need something to do? Today I have a clever project that you can work on while being cooped up in your house. February is a great month to do your home decor projects when its too cold to be outside. I have been redoing my bedroom over the weekend, and wanted to add some new artwork to my room. We gave it a fresh coat of paint and I had several empty frames I wanted to hang. Have you seen lightbulb vases before? If not, today I am going to teach you how to make them and you can see how I hung them from frames for my bedroom decor.
Directions:
1. First take recycled or new lightbulbs and grind down the tops so you can get inside of them. We used a bench grinder to do so.
2. With a hammer and screwdriver, tap apart the insides of the lightbulb (be careful, as these lightbulbs are fragile).
3. Using plyers, pull out the guts of the lightbulbs.
4. Hot glue twine around the edge of the lightbulbs.
5. Add a piece of metal wire and hang to open frames. (I just hung the wire to the nail that the frame uses).
Easy enough, right? I just love how these turned out – and you can mix & match frames for more interest as well!
How fun would these be for a party backdrop too? (My head is already spinning with more ways to use these cute little vases).
I’m thinking I will create a smaller frame and add this lightbulb vase for teacher appreciation week and give as a gift! These will probably be my new gifts for friends and family until I run out!!!!
In addition to gifts, here are some parties I could see these vases being used:
Love Grows
Shabby Chic Tea Party
Vintage Rose Birthday
Rustic Shabby Chic Wedding
I hope this gives you ideas of a home project to do while looking out your window at this terribly cold winter week!
